Description
Mirror Lake Morning. Years ago, my family and I had come to hike here, but were too early in the season and snow blocked the trail. This time, we scheduled for after Labor Day and planned a multi-night backpack. It was a good decision. Though the wildflowers were mostly past, so were the insects, for which the area is infamous. We found a wonderful campsite near Mirror Lake, where I found this composition with fir or larch needles washed up on a rock, with morning sunlight on a peak in the background. We were none too soon, either. On the hike out, a snowstorm blew in!
